1996年度NHK的大河剧《秀吉》是继1965年《太阁记》后又一部部以秀吉为主角的作品，亦是大河剧中最叫好又最卖座的一部。本剧以堺屋太一的‘秀吉’、‘丰臣秀长’与‘人与鬼 信长与光秀’三部作品为蓝本，前三十话着重刻画秀吉从贫民，凭借过人的智慧和永不放弃的斗志，得到时称“尾张大傻瓜”的织田信长赏识，并在信长的天下布武之道上出人头地的故事。第三十话被誉为最为经典一集，渡哲也饰演的信长在本能寺的火光中自刎而死，武者情怀笔者亦颇感动。后十九话描绘了秀吉击败光秀，胜家，降服德川，终而成为日本第一人的故事，然而本剧对秀吉的美化极为明显,秀次一家惨杀及晚年出兵朝鲜失利的阴暗面皆未描写,出兵朝鲜则全推给石田三成的阴谋和馋言,石田三成变成一切恶事的元凶｛NHK表示系顾虑到中国大陆和韩国民众的感受而作此修改。剧中人物刻画极为成功，主要演员如渡哲也，竹中直人表演有可圈点处，战争刻画精彩，情节紧凑，只是不熟悉日本文化的话或许难有强烈共鸣。

As Leo's replacement Thomas Chamberlain arrives Nikki investigates the murders of Rachel Freedman, shot in the head, and her little autistic son Nathan, who was poisoned. At the same time the disfigured corpse of Eva Liron is discovered, killed with the same poison as Nathan. She had been the nanny to French hot shot footballer Isaac Dreyfus and was planning to blackmail him over a sex tape of them both. Jewish Isaac is a controversial figure due to his anti-Muslim sentiments but he denies ant part in the murders. Then another victim, Isaac's agent Mousa, is discovered dead.
